About the Workshop
The departments of Mechanical Engineering at the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, India and the Texas Tech University, Lubbock, U.S.A. will conduct a joint technical workshop on future trends in Sustainable Surface Transportation. The workshop will deal with issues related to Aerodynamics, Cooling Systems, Fuel Cells, and Hybrid Vehicles for Ground Transportation. This three-day workshop would be conducted during March 17 to March 19, 2009. It will feature invited lectures by Prof. Siva Parameswaran and Prof. Timothy Maxwell of Texas Tech University, and by Prof. Sridhar Thyageswaran from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, India.
To be held over three morning and two afternoon sessions, the proposed lectures are intended to benefit senior R&D and design engineers from India's automotive design industry, specialists from public-sector transportation organizations, senior faculty, and masters or doctoral-level students from engineering colleges involved in the research pertaining to vehicle aerodynamics, engine cooling and fuel-cells.

The lectures would focus on the progress and up-to-date developments on the issues related to modern vehicular design, and the role that computational aerodynamics analysis plays in addressing such problems. Modern analysis techniques, and relevant case studies, would be covered. The final session would feature a panel discussion, and would solicit feedback from the participants. All registered participants would be issued a certificate of attendance upon conclusion of the workshop.
